IF
you have not seen you could have been anyone else

If you have not yet seen you could have been the one you criticize, and even more so the one you despise
If you have not seen you could have been the delinquent drunky or the clown president
Or the receptionist or the policeman or the engineer
Or the killer, or the genius....
Or the collateral damage

Then the years have covered your eyes with too many layers, and didn’t give you a chance to peel

IF
you cannot feel the injustice even from the other side of the planet
If you believe we’re here by chance
Yet you cannot see that it’s not you over there, by chance,

If you deny all that is beyond touch and measure
If you believe the universe is a random event
Yet expect random matter to come up with a non-random purpose,

If you’re revolted with not being the ultimate ruler and judge
If you feel fulfilled with knowing you’re but a fluctuation
Yet you cannot see the contradiction

Then
Society pushed your bewilderment way too deep into the dark
and ripped all magic off your world
left the child’s enchantment with an amazing place to wither
his pupils, still large at the sight of a magnet magically pushing through air
his mind, still blown off at the notion of death
his astonishment with the warmth of the sun, the loneliness of the dark, the scintillating stars, the smells, the touch, the fear, the pain, the colors, the seasons, the sea, the ice, the wood, the sugar, the ants,
the very fabric that we uncover as we arrive, new, exciting, magical, unique, miraculous existence...buried and renamed as trivial, mundane, normal, dull, and real.
There is nothing more shocking than normal, there’s nothing more magical than real, there’s nothing more absurd than every little aspect of the world....and how deep did you bury it all,
